A calm, habit-forming wellness companion for a Series A startup — designed to feel soothing, never gamified.
The founders wanted a wellness app people would actually return to daily — but the category was crowded with loud, streak-obsessed products that burned users out. Meadow needed to feel like a quiet ritual, not another notification machine.
The challenge was building genuine habit formation without manipulative mechanics, and doing it fast enough for a Series A timeline.
I ran product-discovery workshops to define the core loop, mapped user journeys around moments of intention rather than reminders, and crafted a soft, tactile visual language with gentle motion. A behavioural-science-informed habit loop replaced streaks with reflection and progress.
Two rounds of usability testing refined onboarding and the daily check-in, and a Lottie-driven micro-interaction set gave the app its signature calm feel.
Meadow launched to strong retention and editorial recognition, validating that calm can out-perform gamification.
